Days 93,94,95
Sometimes you have one of those weekends where absolutely nothing goes the way it was supposed to and even though it doesn't, those days were still just as amazingly awesome as if everything had gone as planned.
My weekend plans included driving to Cape Fear Community College on Friday with Stephanie so she could ask some questions in person, having lunch with my boyfriend, hanging out till he got out of classes, doing something fun, going to the Azalea Festival activities, watching fire works, and spending as much time as possible on the beach. After about item number two on my list everything changed. Steph and I left Raleigh at 8 and got to Cape Fear for her meeting and then met up with Nathan downtown to have lunch. We then killed a little time walking around and then hung out at his parents house in the back yard until he got home from school. We were informed that we were going camping at lunch time, something we did not prepare for so it was going to be an interesting time. After we looked at a few apartments she had called about, we packed up the truck and drove to Albertson to set up camp. It was colder than expected but we still enjoyed ourselves.
Saturday morning Nate's grandparents showed up (we were camping on some of their farm land) and were going to get some work done while we were there...until his grandmother fell down and broke her leg. Nate's dad took her to the hospital and the next few hours were cleaning up camp...taking multiple trips in the car his mom brought, to get all our stuff over to his grandparents house. We did, however, get to shoot his guns for a little while in between the initial accident and packing up. That part was way awesome! His mom made one trip with a car full of stuff while we took down the tents and got the rest of the stuff ready to go, then Steph rode back with her to unload the second time. While they were gone Nathan and I took a walk around the pond and over to where the neighbors hog farm was...I wanted to see the pigs so we walked up to one of the buildings and peeked in through the wire, I said "hey there piggies" and apparently scared the crap out of the ones closest to me. On the way back to our campsite we saw a dead poisonous snake (possibly a Water Moccasin...we're not sure). When his mom got back we loaded up the last bit of stuff and headed to the house, where we waited for a while before we heard from his dad what he wanted his mom to do. She was to drive Grandpa out to the hospital, leave the car and take the truck so we could get all the stuff back home.
While his mom did the car exchange we decided to explore his grandparents property, Steph read her book some and we walked around to some of their old buildings to see what was different from when he was a kid. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to hear stories about the stuff he and his brothers used to do at their grandparents house when they were kids. When his mom got back we loaded up the truck and about 1:30 we were finally heading back. We showered and got ready to go out in the hopes of getting to at least catch the tail end of the craft fair/street fair part of the Azalea Festival but by the time we got there everyone was packing up to leave. So, we hung around and killed time by touring a ship that was on the river. Then we found good seats an hour early to watch the fireworks.
Sunday, we woke up later than we wanted to, I think because we were all so tired from the happenings of the day before. We ate some food and got dressed and then around 11:30 we were heading to the beach for the rest of the day. We played volleyball and lounged in the sun and then had lunch at a place called Trolley Stop and went back to the beach until like 5:00. Then showered and had dinner before heading back to Raleigh.
Things didn't happen at all the way we had hoped but I know I really enjoyed getting to spend time having fun with my amazing friend and my loving boyfriend.
