Day 44
Well I'll be! It snowed! Holy crap.
On my way in last night it started snowing about an hour away from Wilmington and as I got closer it got ridiculous. It was snowing so hard I couldn't see anything but white flakes in my headlights. I literally had to drive looking down to the left side of the road to make sure I didn't end up in the other lane or off the road. It was rough but I made it.
I got to Nate's place and begged him to take a walk in the snow with me. It was pretty dang cold so we bundled up good and warm and headed down the street through his neighborhood. Along the way we encountered three kids out playing in the snow and their dog escaped through the front door. It came right up to Nathan and the kids yelled for him to grab the dog but I don't think he understood what was going on and then the dog took off. So we walked down the street following the kids as they ran after the dog. One of them grabbed him good around the collar but the dog was bigger than him and dragged him down a driveway. WHOA! The collar came off the dog and the dog took off. So we followed them some more trying to help, we managed to get him cornered in someone's back yard that had a fence all around but open on either end of the house (something I'll never understand) but he got by us and took off again, so we ran after him and finally Nathan squatted down and called to the dog who came up and licked him in the face. It was too cute! He grabbed the dog and we walked back with the kids. My boyfriend the hero ;-) hehe.
This morning I woke up super early and looked out my window and the ground, trees, fences, EVERYTHING was covered in all kinds of snow! It was so exciting! I went to wake Nathan up because I was super excited to go take pictures in the snow and play in it too! But he wouldn't get up so we snuggled for a little while and I kept trying every few minutes to get him up. Finally! He got up, we got dressed and went to take some pretty pictures of the pretty snow and then the snowball fight happened. I had lobbed a snowball at him lastnight and ran for it (it actually hit him hehe!) I managed to avoid getting hit then but he sneak attacked me this time! We chucked snow at each other for a bit and his mom pulled out her video camera to tape it (so sweet!) and then some neighbor kids were tossing snow at each other on the other side of a big patch of trees. So Nathan made a big snow ball, and launched it right over the trees and it landed right in the middle of the girls who realized where it came from and then it was on! They pretty much attacked Nathan and I helped them out (he's bigger than them it was only fair!). They were a little too much though, one of them was very mean...I think she hates boys LOL. So when they left finally we went in, grabbed some stuff we needed and headed to Wrightsville beach!
The beach was all covered in snow except where the AM tide had been and there were snow men all over the place. It was too cute. We also saw a guy on cross country skis working his way down the beach, so silly! I totally got pictures! (post them soon I swear!) Then we went to the store and back home. Showered, ate lunch, and hit the road again. Nate ended up buying a new cell phone! He got the new Droid. I love it, I want to play with it all day long!!! Then we went to do a little shopping for me but I only found one of the things I was looking for. We got home, I cooked my special dinner and dessert (the lovely Peanut Butter Cream Pie from Emily) and it was amazing! Such a great and exhausting day!
