Up Hill The Whole Way
As many of you may have noticed I tend to be a bit up and down about my diet/work out. It starts out super strong and I go and go and GO at it for a while before petering off like any normal person seems to. I do have to give myself a little more credit than the average joe, I tend to go at it for a bit longer than usual before crapping out.
My two most recent forays into the world of exercise netted me a smaller stomach that I didn't notice until I quit working out and it all came back and then some! My pants were fitting a little bit better around my mid section and my shirts didn't quite show off the spare tire that seems all too present now. I didn't feel like I was losing anything and I certainly hadn't misplaced any of the pounds that made me feel so gross. People kept telling me I looked like I had lost some weight but I just attributed that to knowing how to dress well enough to cover up the wobbly mess that is my mid-section.
Post-Break up back in March of last year I needed something to take my mind off of the devastation of another rejection (not that it was that bad of a rejection...it was just the first one in so long) so my friend Emily and I began to work out together at least three days a week and I would supplement our work outs the other two days a week with some of my own. I didn't see any true weight loss but I did notice a boost in my energy. The first day we started working out I had wanted to use Billy Blanks Tae Bo Boot Camp and Em said she was pretty sure she had it...when we got to her house she couldn't find it so we tried Chalene Johnson's Turbo Jam Cardio Party. I fell in love! I ended up buying the whole set of DVD's from Amazon.com and then went back and bought her second round of DVD's from the actual website so that I could get the free gifts of workout bands and such. We worked out on and off and eventually it was just off.
I was still feeling alright about myself and that summer I met an amazing man while hanging out with an awesome group of friends. He and I started dating and on one of our dates we went camping at a waterfall where we had to hike in to the camp site carrying all our stuff. Needless to say I was thoroughly embarrassed by my inability to keep up and the constant wheezing. I need to fix this problem and fast. He and I talked about how great it would be to go out hiking together and he began telling me about his plans to go on vacation to Hawaii where he used to live and how much he'd love to take me. I decided that this was where my fat butt needed to get into shape and fast because 1-I wanna look HOT if I'm going to Hawaii and 2- I wanna be able to keep up with him while hiking and surfing around the islands. Thus round two of my Turbo Jam workouts began. I powered through two whole months and still felt like I wasn't getting anywhere. I did two different diets and stopped drinking soda and I lost maybe 3lbs. Maybe. And then I just gave up. Well, not completely I just needed a break from constantly working out and eating healthy and not seeing any results so I took a break and now I wish I hadn't.
Things didn't work out, with Hawaii, the diet, or the boy. Things with the boy are on hold and Hawaii was just too expensive a trip for us at the time, I'm hoping if things get better between he and I that maybe next year we can take that trip. In the meantime... I've decided to pick up where I left off and kick some fat! I need something to keep my mind of yet another rejection and I need something to make me feel better not only about myself but just feel more energy overall. So, I bought Chalene Johnson's ChaLEAN Extreme workout set AND I will be supplementing it with the Turbo Jam DVD's that I already have in my collection. I decided to get the new system because after many discussions with the boy about what really helps weight loss move along I decided I needed to focus less on cardio and more on muscle building. I will be doing both now.
I ordered my DVD's and am anxiously awaiting their arrival. I still haven't worked out when I will be doing them because I don't see myself waking up super early in the AM to work out and shower (I have always preferred both at night) but I'm doing some work for my dad after I get off of my 8-5er. And if I don't start working out as soon as I get home I'm not going to do it, or have the energy to do it, or the motivation. So, I've still got to figure out when this will all be taking place and then I'm going to GO GO GO! Right back up that exercise hill.

Hahahahaha. That sounds just like me! I get all excited about getting really in shape and after a few weeks it fizzles out. Man, I wish we were in the same area. Maybe we could help each other.
