Project- Weekend Adventure
I
my friends I really do. All of them. But I just can't seem to get my friends to make plans and stick with them. I get all excited about some plan that's been made and then they decide to just rip the rug right out from under me. We were supposed to go camping this weekend but one doesn't want to come because another might be working and then the person who actually planned the whole thing decided it would be too hot to camp this weekend. This isn't the first that's been flipped on me either. Last month we were supposed to have a party on the beach celebrating two of my friends getting engaged but they canceled that for rain that never happened. I have to admit that on occasion the new plans end up being better than the original. And I'm very glad the party got canceled because that's the weekend Nate and I broke up so I didn't want to have to do my hostessing duties while being devastated.
Back to this weekends plan changing. So, the original plan was to go camping. There's several places with water where even though it's hot we'd have a way to stay cool and usually camping near water makes the day feel cooler...plus trees, DUH! But that idea has been tossed out and I'm sad because that is what I truly wanted to do. Well then I decided I needed to come up with another plan. My next attempt was a historical tour from Southport to Bald Head Island but that got shot down and then I suggested just paying for the ferry over to the Island and exploring on our own...the heat index decided that was a bad idea. So my next plan is Water Park!

I scoured the Internet for nearby fun parks and came up with Kings Dominion. It's fab because it's not just water it's got dry rides too and if I take some Dramamine I'm sure I can be perfectly okay riding them. If you buy 4 tickets at once it's 139.99 which comes to 34.99 per person. Not too shabby considering the original price is 56.99 and then you factor in the gas for the three hour drive to the park in Virginia. As long as we can manage to keep 4 people at least, then we'll be able to afford the trip. But I have a suspicious feeling it's going to wind up being two and then I just wont be able to afford to go. Gas / 4= possible but Gas / 2= not so much. I feel the need to begin creating a contingency plan. I will have a fun adventure this weekend if it's the last thing I do! I don't know what else there is... cheaper = better. My friends are all in Wilmington so either I go there or they come here but it seems if the park fails I must go there. BUT I will not drive clear out there by my lonesome just to do the same ol same old! I will only drive out there if I can do something unique and different. Maybe there's an island that people don't really go to that we could get out to and explore and play on the beach in the water and have a picnic lunch...but this is North Carolina so I'm not quite sure that's even a possibility. If I lived in California I could totally find a place to do this. I hear Catalina is nice....

Catalina is nice but requires money. It's $50 bucks per person just to get to the island and then everything there cost money. The only free thing available was sitting at the beach which you can do anywhere in OC. Peter and I went there for his brithday. We ended up just sitting around waiting to go home because we ran out of money. I hear Ocracoke, NC is a really great island to explore. If you go into one of the bars you'll get a chance to hear the fisherman speak a different language.
HAHA that's pretty sucky. There's actually a few great Islands up the coast but they're further north than Wilmington. I'm saving up those visits for my big Lighthouse trip :-)
you can admit it was me. I'm a slacker. I'm a punk. And I bailed out. And I'm sorry....
but it'll work out this weekend for the better. enjoy!
I gotta say...being a flake is my least favorite bad quality. And you know what I mean. There's a difference between flaking out and actually having a solid legitimate excuse to miss out on what you said you'd do. Ugh! And so many many many people are flakes. Many of my friends. I hate it. I swore to myself that not being a flake was the one quality I would be sure to instill in my kids, and I will dangit!
