That's A No No

When you get a phone call for an interview aren't you supposed to write down the time, date, location and any other pertinent information they give you as you're talking to them?!?

We've had interviews back to back all morning today and the 10:45 had just walked in and sat down when a tall blond in a suit arrived announcing she was here for an interview. Well the tall blond lady's interview isn't scheduled until this same time tomorrow but she forgot and thought it was today. And instead of just admitting her mistake and asking if it was ok to reschedule her interview since she had a conflict the following day, she proceeds to yammer on and on about her sob story. Really? Hunny everyone has a lot going on in their lives. I mean if you've read my blog you'd know how much I have going on and I still manage to keep up with all my appointments. Then after rescheduling her interview for a later time tomorrow she proceeds to tell more about the tragic things that are going on in her life and about her past job and her previous boss, who is so kind and helpful and told her she'd go really far because she's a really great employee and really knows what she's doing. HA! Obviously not mister, I mean the woman can't even get her interview dates straight.

I do believe this is also the same woman that called yesterday to inquire if someone from our office had called her again about her interview for the following day. I asked around and came back with a no. She said well someone from DOT had called her about the job and left a message with her Mother-in-law who's sick and wrote down the wrong phone number, etc... on and on and on. I told her I'm sorry that no one from here had called anyone about interviews that day and hung up. A little while later my supervisor, who is doing the interviews, came back and said that she had already spoken to that lady and that she had called on Friday and left that message. Wow. Okay I'm sorry but I can't help but think that if you're going to be applying for jobs then you really need to get your head on straight and know what's going on. It doesn't look good to a prospective employer when you don't even know what day and time you're supposed to be at your interview. A prospective employer also has no desire to hear all about the problems that are going on in your personal life, seriously, keep that to yourself.
