Fat, Lazy, Society
Whenever I watch Hulu.com I see these 5 hour energy drink commercials about 50 times a day! UGH! As you watch the commercial it goes through a parade of people exhausted at their jobs and what types of things they do to stay awake. And the response is you should pump yourself full of all kinds of chemicals to keep awake and energized for the next 5 hours of your day.
As soon as I hear this commercial my first thoughts are what a fat lazy society we live in. No wonder when I go to the store I see hugely fat people walking around. How about instead of creating more crap to fill our bodies with so we continue on this downward spiral of disgusting, let's promote health. I'm not saying you have to eat salad every day or even give up your morning coffee, but if you want to have energy to make it through the day here's a few things you should try instead of Caffeine, chemical filled energy drinks, and other ridiculous junk.
1-Go to bed EARLY: I know what a drag! Who wants to hit the sack at a decent hour? Well anyone that wants to power through their day at a boring job should get lots of rest and wake up early, energized and ready to go.
2-Eat Breakfast: It sounds so simple but eating a healthy breakfast helps keep your energy up through a long tough day at work. Not only do you need to eat breakfast you need to have a healthy lunch and dinner as well!
3-Keep Snacks on Hand: Your metabolism slows down if you don't eat at least every 2-3 hours. One of the symptoms of a slow metabolism is fatigue. If you eat two small snacks between breakfast and lunch and then lunch and dinner this will give you more energy and keep your metabolism up.
4-Skip the Greasy Fast Food!: I know it seems a lot easier to run across the street and grab a burger and fries but it's not going to help you in the energy department. All that heavy fried food may also taste good but it's filling effects are only temporary, you'll be hungry and tired all too soon.
5-Exercise: You may not be out to lose weight and you may not even want to be all that healthy but I have found on the weeks that I exercise for 30 minutes or more I feel incredibly energized. Even just taking a walk and getting your blood flowing can increase the amount of energy you'll have through your days. I personally recommend cardio exercise because it gets your heart pumping and the blood flowing, and the more of that going on the more oxygen gets pumped all over your body and that can really help you make it past that 2:30 feeling!
I am by no means a health expert, I'm only speaking from my own personal experience...eat healthier, get more rest, and get some exercise and you'll be surprised at how energized you will feel.
