Banana Sorbet/Strawberry Banana Ice Cream

The recipe I found calls this Banana Ice Cream but I feel like I should call it a Sorbet instead. Ice Cream is made using either heavy cream or milk but Sorbet is made from fruit usually mixed with a liquid but in this instance it's just fruit.

The recipe I was introduced to via a lovely blog called LimeCake is found here on thekitchn. By the way, I also plan to try LimeCake's Grilled Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich with Cinnamon Sugar Crust! I love bananas. Anyway, I decided since I love sweets but I'm trying to not get fat, why not give this recipe a try?

First you cut a ripe (but not TOO ripe) banana into medallions and put them in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
Next you take the bananas and put them in either a blender or food processor, and pulse away. At first they will look all crumbly.

Be sure to scrape the sides frequently to keep the banana mixed. I started in the blender but had to transfer my banana to my tiny food processor because the blender just wasn't cutting it.I had to scrape the sides after every three pulses and the sides were so high I wasn't able to scrape efficiently.
The more you blend the creamier your frozen bananas will get. When you're done and it's all blended up it will be the consistency of soft serve, if you want it to be more like ice cream or sorbet put it in the freezer for a few more hours. :-)
It is at this point that the author of the recipe recommends adding any additional ingredients. Well...I decided I wanted Strawberry Banana ice cream. So in went 4 small frozen strawberries and a little milk to aid in the blending process...and now it's more like ice cream!
During the process of making this delightful treat, I have learned 2 things. 1-My kitchen is ill equipped for making frozen treats. My blender is cheap and old and I'm sure the blades aren't nearly as sharp as they should be and my food processor is tiny and has a pitiful motor. I had to switch back and forth between the two in order to get the "ice cream" blended up just right. Maybe for my birthday I can convince people to buy me things for my kitchen. AND 2- I'm not a fan of things with just one ingredient. So,  while the banana by itself was tasty and just way awesome, I really felt the need to add the strawberries, because strawberry banana ice cream is WAY better than just banana.
