ReL ≠ Spontaneous!
Okay so, if you read yesterday's post you might be curious just what in the WORLD I was up to. Here goes:
Monday night I texted my boyfriend to see how his day was going, he let me know that he wasn't feeling well and was about to take a nap. I said well when you wake up if you feel like calling, you should. And then I didn't hear back from him the rest of the evening. So, Tuesday at work I texted him and said I hoped he was feeling better, he said not really but he'd slept most of the morning and had plans to take a nap after I was done texting him. I made the comment awww, I should show up in a nurse costume with chicken noodle soup and "nurse" you back to health. hehe. He thought that would be great. And then I'm pretty sure he fell asleep again.
Well, his "that would be great" got me to thinking...if we were a normal couple it would be no big deal any day of the week for me to stop by and take care of him if he's not feeling well. So, even though we're a long distance couple, it's only two hours. I decided to drive to Wilmington and pick up some chicken noodle soup and a DVD and go snuggle and watch a movie with my "sick" boyfriend. I called his mom to make sure he didn't leave the house to go to the store or anything because I'd hate for him to not be there when I got there, she informed me that she didn't realize he was sick but just figured he was tired since he'd been in bed all day long. And apparently he got up after his nap and told his mom that he was going to go do something with his brother. Well now that stinks! So I called up his brother to find out what their plans were and explained my plot. He kinda made me feel like it was stupid idea but two friends told me they thought it was a brilliant scheme and he'd love it. So after finding out that all they were going to do was order some sunglasses, I figured I was safe.
About half way there I called him to sneakily make sure he was still at home. This is where my spontaneity fell apart. I asked how he was feeling and he said he was better but still not 100% but that he was going to head to the gym with his brother and then he'd asked his friend if he wanted to hang out and play some pool. Hrm. Well, I told him no you can't do that you need to be home! You're supposed to be sick mister! He couldn't figure out why I wanted him incapacitated and at home...so I told him that I'd had something sent to my sick boyfriend and he had to be home to receive it. Well, can't my mom just get it and I'll see it when I get back from the gym? Nope! You need to be there! Well why is it so important for me to be here to get it? I tried and tried to get him to stay home without actually spoiling my surprise. But I just couldn't get my hard headed man to comply. So I spoiled the surprise.
Convo:
"Well, your girlfriend is about to show up at your house in about 30 minutes with Chicken Noodle Soup and a movie to take care of her sick boyfriend. But apparently, he's not all that sick since he's going to the gym and to play pool". Wait WHAT?!? "yes I'm nearly in Wilmington as we speak, When I texted you and you said how much you'd like me to take care of you while you're sick I thought it would be fun to surprise you with a visit and take care of you. I mean, if I lived here it would be nothing for me to do this so I figured this once I'd try to be spontaneous and loving and caring and you kinda killed it". So, you're almost here? "Yeah like 30 maybe 40 minutes out". Wow, that is really sweet. But I'm already dressed and I've got my protein shake mixed up and waiting on my brother to show up so we can go work out. "Ok how long will you be there?" About an hour "hm. How about if I go hang with Steph, you let me know when you're done, and I'll come over" Okay, I didn't really think that when I told you that sounded nice you'd actually show up. " I know thus the spontaneous part" LOL "I'll see you in an hour".
We ended up going out to eat at Hiro, it's like Kanki. We had a blast and really enjoyed the time we got to spend together laughing and holding hands and just being relaxed. It sucks that my ploy to be sneaky and surprise my man failed miserably but it was so worth it to just spend an evening with him. It was like a normal boyfriend/girlfriend date and it was almost perfect. The only thing that could have made it better is if dinner hadn't taken up the entire three hours I had to be there and we could have gone to walk on the beach like he wanted. But dinner took two and a half hours so we drove back to his house and sat in his room and talked for a while before I absolutely had to leave or I wouldn't be getting up for work. Best trip to Wilmington I've ever made and I'm so glad I decided to do it :-)
There's picture...there really are...but well, I'm super slow about getting them out of the camera and onto the computer. Soon I swear!

That's hilarious and so "real-life". It never happens like we see it in the movies. :) I am so excited for you and your happy life.
