Day 115

This morning I got up too early for a Saturday. I let the dogs out for the morning and then got myself ready to go. I threw on a dress and fixed my hair as best I could with all the humidity going on in the air lately. Then ate breakfast and hit the road.

I got to Kelly and Jackie's house and thankfully they were ready to head out, so we switched cars and put the girls in their seats then headed to Apex. About half way down the road Kelly remembered that she'd forgotten to bring the blanket mom gave her for us to sit on. Well, crap. We got to the Stake Center with 20 minutes to spare so we ran to the Walgreen's just down the street where Kelly found three fleece blankets on clearance for $3 a piece. Nice. So then we headed back and still got there early enough that we were only about the fifth family there. We set up our blankets and the girls played with their little friends as they arrived. Finally they called everyone to order (not that it did a bit of good) and explained the purpose of the activity. They sang two Temple related songs, the Primary President told two stories about the dedication of the Raleigh Temple and then explained that this was to be a family activity and to please keep the children together with your family. Then she explained that a few families at a time would be allowed to quietly and reverently walk around the Temple together so that the children could gain an appreciation of what it's like to be at the Temple.

Funny how even though parents were asked to keep their children together and reverent, all the little boys went back to trying to climb the trees and the girls were running around squealing and playing hide and seek. Nice. I tried to help Kelly keep Aaliyah and Milena corralled, which was actually pretty easy because Aaliyah was pouting since she couldn't walk around the Temple until after another family came back and said it was our turn. She was so cute, being all sad because she wanted to go walk around the Temple and didn't want to wait. Silly girl. We finally got our turn and took a few pictures as we went. It was a nice walk. Milena was a little cranky and frustrating to deal with but overall it was nice. Afterwards we were given a large loaf of bread, cheese cubes, grapes and carrot sticks with water to eat for a "snack". It was pretty yummy, the bread was homemade by a lady that works for a bakery and I have got to learn to make loaves like that, sooo tasty.

After the activity we drove home, I dropped the girls off, traded cars, then went back to my house for a nap before heading to Pikeville. I drove to Pikeville (which if you aren't aware of it's location is between Wilson and Goldsboro) for my friend Michele's congratulations party. She passed the Bar exam and that is an awesome feat. It was awkward because well the hosts of the party were the only ones that I knew. So I tried to mingle a little and mostly stood around by myself watching people come and go. I did meet and chat with another girl that went to Western and it was funny because she and Michele hung out a lot back then but I'd never met her before. After she left I spoke to Michele's husband a bit and waited around till everyone else was leaving. Michele asked me to stay for a while after everyone left so we could actually have some time to talk. We chatted for a few more hours and around 10:30 I was finally heading home. Nathan texted a little while ago to let me know that he's going to call as soon as he gets Maile to bed. I haven't talked to him since Thursday so it'll be nice to flirt with my baby a bit tonight :-)
