Calling All Weather Enthusiasts!
I'm pretty sure NC could use some new, more accurate weathermen. If any of you are up to the job please apply with the local TV news stations. If you're going to predict rain, please be certain it will be raining!
If you've ever lived in NC you know the weather is ridiculously unpredictable. It was supposed to rain several days last week and then all weekend. I was devastated. Nathan and I were supposed to take the kids to the zoo...you can not imagine how excited I was since not only would it be their first visit but my own as well. Well, since it was supposed to rain everywhere all weekend we decided to drive to Atlantic Beach and take them to the Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium. I have been there, his kids have not, so it was still exciting. Since I checked the weather and knew that it was only supposed to be in the low 80's and semi-cloudy at Atlantic Beach I figured that would be cool, we could go check out Fort Macon and then go to the beach for a little while. Apparently this was thinking far too big. I'm not a mom, I probably never will be (not to a brood of my own anyway) and so I didn't realize how quickly kids get sleepy after lunch time. We never made it to the beach but we did have a chance to tour the Fort a little bit (though not nearly as much as I'd have liked) and it was so much fun. But then it was nap time so we headed back to Wilmington.
The weather was not a problem. I got so mad! It was supposed to be raining and there were supposed to be giant thunderheads and huge bolts of lightening! This was supposed to be the reason I couldn't take my first zoo trip!!! But it didn't rain, or thunder or lightening. No, it was a beautiful and very hot day! I should have known. I've lived in NC my whole life and it doesn't matter what part of the State you're in you can't plan for the weather to ever be what the weathermen claim it will be. Despite my disappointment in the weather it was still an amazing weekend, we had so much fun and I can't wait until we get to do something else fun and exciting!
