It's My Freaking Body!

Okay so, I know that by reading the title you'd think this is some kind of post about free thinking hippieness but it's not. I'm just so tired of hearing people tell me that this diet I'm on is just a big mistake and the best way to lose weight is to eat whatever you want but in smaller portions and working out.

WELL GUESS WHAT!?!

I've lived in this body for 27 years. TWENTY SEVEN! I know what works for my body and what doesn't. I know that for years now I've tried normal dieting, fad diets, varied kinds of exercise and the most I've lost was 5 lbs over 3 months and I promptly gained it all back the second I changed my diet or switched exercises. SO, when a friend blogged about her great success on this not so common diet, I was willing to give it a whirl. It's not cheap, it's not easy, but I love it! I have lost 21 lbs since I started and to me that is the true test of a brilliant diet! I feel healthier! I look amazing! I was working out along with my diet just to keep my muscles toned but that had to be put on hold until my back heals.

The point I'm trying to make here is just because a particular diet sounds risky or is a fad or whatever, don't tell someone that it wont work for them. You don't know what will or wont work for someone else. My favorite line is "You're just going to gain all that weight back the minute you stop the diet"...well if I do then I didn't learn anything on my diet. The key to dieting success is once you've lost the weight, don't go right back to eating the way you were eating before. Dieting isn't just about changing what you eat for a few days, weeks, or months, it's about changing the way you think about food period. It's about changing how you eat for the rest of your life. I can pretty much guarantee you I will not go back to eating crap food when this is over. I've seen how my body has responded to healthy options versus junk food and it's great. So, I may treat myself to Taco Bell once a month or make a tasty pie every now and then, but you wont catch me eating McDonald's every day or buying the two for one Ice Cream at Food Lion unless there's a party to take it to. I love sugar and sweets and how wonderful they taste and how fun they are to make but at the same time... I LOVE MY BODY! I love feeling fit and being thinner and healthier looking. It makes my day to walk into work and have one of the ladies say how amazing I look since I've lost weight! I want to feel that way every day!

Just because something has never worked for you, doesn't mean it wont work for someone else.
