From Gangs To Military
I had an interesting conversation in the parking lot this morning with the guy that works on our AC at the office. He was mentioning how Knightdale built the new High School (Knightdale High) and then wanted to tear it back down because the area was so populated with gangs. I had no idea! I grew up in Knightdale and it was never an issue, but I "grew up" there more than 10 years ago, a LOT has changed in a decade. They've got more shopping centers, a hospital, upscale grocery stores, and tons more apartments and large neighborhoods. Apparently along with all the niceties came the not so niceties...gangs.
Anyway, the guy made the comment if they want to shoot at people and kill them he's got a great suggestion, stick a gun in their hand and send them over to Afghanistan and see where that gets them. I like this idea. Why don't we pack up all the gang members in the US, guns and all, and ship them over to the war in Afghanistan?? They love shooting people and probably don't mind being shot at since it happens every day so why not put them to good use? Oh yeeeah, because that wouldn't be humane. *sigh* oh well that's a shame because I think it would be so much better to watch the news and find out that, instead of good men that have loving families waiting on them at home dying, we have the scum and lowlifes out there getting shot at. I think that would do this country a great service.

Just because they are in a so-called 'gang' doesn't mean that they don't have families that they love and are trying to support that love them back.
And I think there's something like training and such that they'd have to go through to go to war. Also - do you really want them that experienced with all the training when they get back if they are so eager to kill before they go?
