Today's Agenda: Wreck your car.
Yes folks today was my first ever accident, but wait! There's more! It was my fault. I managed to go 8 years with a license and never have a real wreck, I don't count backing into my mom's truck in the driveway as a real wreck. Today changed all that.

Ahh it was a beautiful Monday morning cruising my way to work as usual. I take Capital Blvd to the Peace St. exit every morning. If you're at all familiar with that exit you know there is a yield sign and usually you can just zoom right on through. Well, today there were cars coming so the guy in front of me stopped and waited, okay no big deal, then he pulled up so I just kinda figured he'd gone and I was looking left and saw a car coming so I figured I'd better go ahead and go before they got much
closer...sadly Mr PT Cruiser had not fully moved out of my way and CRUNCH! My Xterra decided to eat his PT Cruiser. He pulled over into the driveway of a business right next to the exit and got out, I appologized about four times, "I'm so sorry I'm so sorry I'm so sorry, wow my first accident ever, man I am so sorry!" He was very nice about it and told me it was okay it happens. I felt a lot better but my hands were shaking so badly. He went and got his cell and said "well I'm not sure what the number is to call Raleigh PD" um.. 911? So I called my dad, figured I'd better let him know I'd finally fell into the curve with my siblings and had a wreck, and I asked what number to call to report it..um 911... okay so 911 it is! I called and reported it. I must say that was a fun conversation "911 what is your emergency and location" "Oh I just rearended a guy on Peace St. right off the capital Blvd exit" "is anyone hurt?" "Um wow I didn't think to ask, are you okay?" "yeah" "okay no one's hurt but the cars are a lil scuffed up..*nervous chuckle*" "okay can you tell me the address for where you are" blah blah you get the picture. 10 mins later RPD arrives and asks what happened. Then I have to explain that I'm a moron and wasn't really paying attention. It took him another 10 minutes to file the report and then my dad showed up. The cop explained what I needed to do and that my insurance company, once contacted by me, would contact the attackee and that I had a citation and I just have to go to court with a letter from my insurance company saying everything has been settled and they'll dismiss it and I wont have to pay anything. So May 20 I'll have a lovely morning in court before work...luckily it's a Wednesday and not a Monday...and then off they go leaving me and dad to figure out if my car is driveable.

It's not as bad as it sounds but th
e bumper is going to need a bit of help and the metal over the tire is bulging out a little, oh yeah and there's a sizeable gap between the hood and the car. Ah well, my clean record is now soiled... crap!

Ah well, my clean record is now soiled... crap! So, when I got to work I had to explain twice what had happened because well, people are nosy...okay more like they just wanted to make sure I was okay but it's frustrating having to explain that you're a moron and don't pay attention while driving. Then I had to call the insurance company, the lady was super nice actually, and explain yet again that I'm a dork. I filed my claim and hopefully they'll get around to me really soon.
And the guy just called me because the police officer wrote down the wrong insurance information. Dad just changed the company from Allstate to another company and so when the guy tried to call them they said our policy had been terminated a little while ago...I explained that I wasn't sure why it hadn't shown up on the police officers information but no we don't have Allstate and I gave him the phone number, policy number, and name of the new company. Again, he was very nice and thanked me for the information, not the accident LOL. Man, I am so ready for this awful day to be over with!
