Reduction in Pay & Bogus "Reward"

According to Executive Order No. 11 by the "Prestigious" (note my sarcasm) Governor Beverly Perdue... all state employees will be taking a cut in pay and be "rewarded" for this loss in $$ by being given 10 hours of UNPAID leave. You read that right folks we are getting screwed hard core! Here's the part I love, according to Forbes News Article "In return, workers will get an extra 10 hours of flexible time off." that makes it look like you're being given 10 hours of leave to make up for the fact that they're taking your pay but in reality the exact wording goes like this:

"all full-time employees whose salaries are reduced pursuant to subsection (a) shall be furloughed for 10 hours without pay at times to be designated by their employing agency between June 1 and December 31,2009..."

As if times aren't crappy enough! Okay yes, it's better than getting laid off... but the fact that not only are they taking money out of our checks but forcing us to take basically a ten hour unpaid vacation. LAME!

I just heard about that! They're doing it to teachers too, but students are required to be in school for at least 180 days and a substitute would be required for the time we take off, so it's not like we can just take leave whenever we want.

I think it's ridiculous. You can't force someone to take vacation time so they can reduce your salary...that should be illegal!
