I'm Good at This...
Ah I spoke too soon, as I usually do. Oh what a hot headed person I am...
The "Bogus" reward for losing pay may indeed not be bogus. It will possibly be ten hours of paid leave. The original document states, as noted in my previous post, that the leave will be without pay but the letter from the Govenor AND a letter from the office of State Budget say that we will be compensated with the 10 hours.
There is now a letter from the Govenor posted that says: "In return, each employee will recieve 10 hours of flexible time off." it still doesn't say straight up that you'll get paid for that ten hours and without a correction to the official document being posted it still seems a bit suspect. It's intended to soften the blow.Not that the blow was that hard to begin with...After much awful math on my part and some really good math by my mother...we figured out that I will only be losing $25 each paycheck for the next 5 checks, I get paid three times in May and two in June.
A friend on facebook was kind enough to point out that we're getting off easy. I don't want my complaining to be taken as a sign that I'm not greatful that I still have a job. My problem was that they sprung it at the last minute and everyone was so confused as to what was actually supposed to happen. And then after reading the official document where it said "without pay" but all the news places were reporting it as compensation...I went off the handle. It was more the lack of good journalism that set me off...and well it's a good thing I'm not actually a journalist because I'd have failed LOL.
But yes, I am thankful that I do still have a job and that they're only cutting my pay, for now, 1/2% instead of 20-70% and I'm very thankful that they're not givng me unpaid leave for 2 months. $25 is really nothing at all when you think about the struggles everyone else is having right now. Maybe next time I'll wait and make sure they've got all their P's and Q's right before I decide to blog angrily about something... haha doubtful but hey, you never know!
