Jump!

A picture I saw today brought a question to my mind...
Why is it whenever someone gets married at the beach, the photographer makes them take a group jumping picture?
Note: since these aren't my pictures I've adjusted them so you can't see anyone's face.
Is it a requirement that if you get married on the beach you have to take a picture of your wedding party jumping up and down? Is it the thrill and excitement of being on the beach? Is it the hot sand burning everyone's feet? What is the appeal?
My personal opinion of these types of pictures is that, while they're fun they're just ridiculous. Now that's my personal opinion, I'm kinda one of those minimalists when it comes to wedding photos...I think they should be elegant. But I can't help but wonder why it is that everyone I've ever known that has been in or to a beach wedding has had to participate in one of these pictures? What is the deal, can someone tell me? I feel like I'm missing something here.

I also think it is silly... I understand taking jumping pictures on the beach with friends, but a wedding?? Weird.
I think I want to get married on the beach . . .

I have been in a non-beach wedding and the photographer had a us do a jumping picture. It was June and I was in a heavy satin dress and 3 inch heels. We were NOT happy to be jumping around. It's so cheesy and cliche. I don't understand the men-holding-the-bride picture either. I'm glad I'm not the only one that finds those kinds of pictures unnecessary!
