"Jingle Bells, Christmas Tree Soon Will Be Here...

I can't wait till Christmas day, the best day of the year."

Okay well as you all know in my opinion Thanksgiving day is the best day of the year but that song fit my topic and it's so much fun. Anyway, Christmas time she is a coming. Are you ready for it? I'm not. I've got so much stuff to do. Since I'm poor I'm making people's presents this year and it's tougher than buying because you have to put a lot more effort into it...but it also means more to the people you give homemade gifts too because of that effort.
I'm really excited about some of the stuff I'm putting together, I'd tell you about it but then I'd have to delete this blog because you never know who might read it and I'd hate for someone to know what they're getting for Christmas.
I'm about to make my first foray into wood working though and that's a little bit scary. I have to break out my mom's scroll saw and that makes me nervous because you can cut off your fingers with those things. I'm also going to start making my own jewelry for people. I think I'm going to make some Christmas jewelry for my friends and give it to them now so they can wear it through the rest of the Holidays.
The sad part about this though is that we don't have a tree yet. Every year after Thanksgiving, when we could afford it, for the last 5 years, we've driven up to the mountains to a Christmas Tree farm and picked out our tree and had it cut down. I love it because even though it's 6 hours in the car, it's always exciting once you get there. Well my dad was sick this year so we didn't make the trip. We're supposed to get our tree from the Farmer's Market but we haven't done that yet. It makes me sad. I don't think I'll feel like I'm in the Christmas Spirit until the tree is up and I can smell the pine permeating through the house.
Another thing I'm looking forward to that should help me feel more Christmasy is wrapping presents. I love wrapping paper and the way it folds around a box. I love the way the tape smells too. So weird but so much fun. I also love giving gifts. My family can't really afford Christmas this year, it's just one of those years; Amber and AK are still doing the whole newly married no money thing, Jackie and Kelly have had to buy a new car recently, Brenna spent all her money paying bills so she could go to Germany and be with her man, so everyone keeps telling me not to worry about presents this year because none of them have any money to get anyone anything. I just chuckle and say too bad, I'm getting you a present. I LOVE giving people stuff it makes me feel happy. I like getting things too but that's just an added bonus. I feel very Christmasy when I can watch someone unwrap that crisp paper and their eyes light up when they see what you got them. It's just so much fun and so very rewarding.
Anyway, I'm also hoping to be able to move during Christmas, what an awkward time to move. It's just very convenient because I'll be off work half the week. I'm praying that they'll let us move in early and not have to pay pro-rated rent. That's so lame, I mean the stinking house is just standing there all empty and it's not like they're making any money on it. But I guess they do what they have to do for reasons unknown to the general public. Regardless, I am SO ready to get this move done! So I can be in my very own house. I'm so very excited about that.
So hopefully I'll soon find my Christmas Spirit! Until then, maybe I'll go sing some Christmas Carols around the office ;-)
