Clown Face
I don't know about you, but I'm not a fan of looking like a clown when I leave my house. On occasion, usually when attending a night club, I will wear a bit more makeup than is necessary but that's only because it's fun to glam up a bit more when stepping out to a club. However, it's never cool to wear so much makeup that you look like someone that would be hired by Barnum or Bailey. What in the world posses a woman to cover her face in tons of makeup? Do mothers not teach less is more and that makeup is to enhance your natural beauty not hide it? Why do girls no longer get that message?!?As a young'un it was fun to dive into mom's makeup drawer and I
always had a good time applying way too much lipstick. Since my mom never wore colored eye shadows, she's more of a white/brown eye makeup type, I didn't really play in the shadow but I did put on way too much blush! Now all this was in the name of playing dress up and I was never allowed to walk out of the house without first washing my face. As a matter of fact, I didn't begin wearing actual makeup until I was 15. Then when it was time for me to wear real makeup my mother took me to the Clinique counter at the mall and we bought nice complementary colors for my skin tone and when we got home she showed me how to apply it so that I didn't look like Mimi Bobeck. Gradually I began buying different colors of eye shadow and now I'm a huge HUGE fan of intense color on the eyes but I still remember mom's mantra of "less is more".So today as I'm sitting at work and a woman of about 60 walked in wearing SO much makeup I
couldn't help but stare at her. I was suddenly reminded of what my mom taught me and so badly wondered, she's from about the same generation as my mother, why didn't she learn that same lesson? Or does there come a point in a woman's life where she feels like her features are fading and she now must apply even more makeup to make it look like she actually has a face? Kinda like Tammy Faye Baker. Personally, I don't have the time or the patience to paint my face every single day nor do I think more pores could handle that. I usually go bare to work, I don't see the point in waking up an hour earlier to put makeup on when it'll more than likely just get rubbed off during the process of a normal day. Most of the time I take the time to add a little color to my face before heading to Church or a dance or, as I said before, when I'm going out. But I have never ever thought it was attractive to show up at work with bright red lips and a mask of foundation. It's just not pretty. So, the next time you go to apply your makeup remember ladies, Less IS More!!
