Atypical Moving Day
Ah the chaos that comes with moving... computers, scanners, paper work, files... Yep I'm being moved from my happy little semi-iscolated cubicle to the obnoxiously public fishbowl of a front desk. YAY... :-( except not really.
I've really enjoyed the privacy of having those fabulously ugly cubicle walls around me and now I've got to be all out in the open for everyone to stare at. I'm not thrilled by any means. It's not that I'll be planning to do anything I don't want anyone to see, it's more of an extention of my 'please leave me alone' rant that I had the other day. Now I have nowhere to hide from the people here. Ah well, I guess that's all part of growing up, so to speak anyway.
So, today begins the new adventures of Ariel at the Front Desk. Woo, great sounding name for a reality show HAHA. Yesterday my supervisor left early so as I was sitting up front to catch the phones the Director told me we needed to go ahead and start cleaning up Moniqua's* stuff and put it all away so we would have room for my things. The reason this has to be done is that she's out of work on disability... in this case it's mental... and who knows when she'll finally decide to come back to work. On top of that my supervisor is retiring in 19 days! YAY! but when she leaves someone has to pick up the slack at the front desk, and that someone is me... with no raise and no extra benefits or job title changes. I just get to pick up extra duties and move my desk.
So when I got to work today we moved my computer and scanner up front and set everything up and then I went back to my old desk and moved ever last bit of my crap up front. And so now I'm all settled in and we'll see how long this lasts. I must say though, it's better than moving from house to house, WAY less stuff to pack up and transfer.
*Name changed to protect the guilty party ;-)
