Lunch

Most days I sit at my desk and eat the lunch that I brought from home. As you can imagine that gets pretty old, the sitting at my desk not so much the bringing my lunch from home. Anyway, on very rare occasions a friend will want to do lunch, I live for those days. When my sister lived here we would try to eat lunch with each other as often as possible and now that she's gone I've got to try and find other people to have lunch with.

Last week an old friend from High School got back in touch with me and wanted to go out for dinner...well I'm broke until Friday and he works until 10 every day except today, Thursday. So I made the suggestion that we have lunch together instead, not only does it give me an excuse to get out of the office but if the situation is awkward I've only got about 50 mins. So we agreed on lunch and I called today to decide where to go... I chose my favorite lunch location, Tropical Smoothie. So we met up and had lunch, hilarious conversation, and then I went back to work. I actually had a lot of fun and it was sooo great to get away from these hideous fabric walls.

So my mind keeps thinking about how much easier it is to have lunch with someone than it is to have dinner with them. You have time constraints because you have to get back to work, which helps out in so many ways... there's no awkward, well now what do we do, like there is after dinner. There's no feeling like you have to sit idly and chat away until one or the other of you finally sucks it up and says, "well I gotta be going". It's daylight outside so that whole night time romantic scene thing doesn't come into play. Lunch is like the perfect 'let's hang out' meal. I love it.
