Ahhh the beach

So this past weekend was a "Regional" conference in Wilmington. I use the " " because I don't believe the entire region was represented. So Jordan and I drove down Friday after work and it was a really great drive. I got to chat with Jordan and we just talked and talked and talked. When we got there and checked in there weren't a lot of people there but we just figured they'd show up late. BOY were we wrong! Sadly the dance went on and I think there was maybe like 15 people there and quite a few left and then Stephanie and her group showed up so there was like 10 more people. I think maybe at one point there were 30 people at the dance. It was just sad. My old friends Christy and David showed up at the dance, I was rather thrilled about this because I haven't seen either of them in AGES. They have definitely changed but that's okay we all grow up and become different people. We got bored with the dance so Jordan, Stephanie, David, Christy and I all decided we'd hit the town and go to a club so we could do some real dancing. We got parked and started walking... and we walked.... and we walked... okay lol it wasn't that bad but we did walk quite a ways and then we showed up at a club and Jordan realized she'd grabbed her Credit Card instead of her ID, that's okay David seemed to have some pull with the dudes at the doors so we got in. When we got to the first club it was barren. The next club we asked before we went in and he said it was still too early for it to be hoppin... it was 11:30! Okay, next club was a gay club. Which honestly I'm fine with. I don't really care what they do I just wanna dance. So we got in and started dancing for like 5 minutes and then they cut the music and told everyone to get off the floor because the "show" was about to start.

That's right guys MY first (and hopefully last) drag show. It was hilarious. I didn't like the one guy that was doing all the talking because he had the nastiest mouth of anyone I've ever encountered. But the performances were quite funny. I will never be able to listen to some of those songs again without having some seriously twisted mental images. Anyway when they finished we were allowed to dance. We grooved until about 1:30 I'd say and Jordan was ready to go, secretly I was so exhausted I wanted to leave 30 minutes prior to that but I didn't want to be a downer so I just kept on dancing. When we got back to the hotel to shower I realized just how AWFUL we smelled!!! We put our clothes in plastic trash bags so that they wouldn't stink up our bags. I don't think I have ever left a club smelling that bad before in my life.

Saturday was the conference and so we showed up for our classes. I must say I was immensely under-whelmed. The first class was a lady that basically read her whole lesson from a book and never really got to a specific point. The next class was the most amazing class I've had in a long time. The guy did a fabulous job talking about David and Goliath and the full armour of God. Then there was their "Keynote" speaker and he did alright but I just didn't feel that any of these people connected to what their theme was. It just seemed so random and out of place. We had lunch and then Jordan and I met up with the others at the beach. Good times were had by all. The ocean was pretty rough but we played for a bit and then it was time for Ariel to lay out in the sun. I love the ocean, don't get me wrong, I just really REALLY hate being knocked down by the ocean and having sand thrust into my swim shorts. That's kind of a deal breaker there.

Eventually some of us met up with David to go ride jet skis and THAT was fun... until I beached one on a Sandbar and the tide decided it was time to go out. So David and Matt and I worked all the muscles we had to get that big 'ol thing back into the inlet. I felt pretty crappy about that but what can you do? Pay closer attention next time!

After a while Jordan and I were getting hungry so we left and went back to the hotel to shower and get changed. We packed up all our stuff and shoved it in the car and headed out to dinner at Olive garden before hitting the road to come home. Overall it was a pretty great trip. I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with my friends, especially the time I got to spend making new friends and getting to know Jordan better. As a matter of fact next weekend Jordan, Brenna and I are going to spend some time together. The other good thing that came of this trip is that I got some idea of what not to do while planning Raleigh's Regional Conference.
