I'm a Firm Believer in Being Prepared
I don't travel light. I never have. BUT you can't count me with those women that bring every single pair of shoes they own and fifty outfits and all their styling products. No sirree. I've been so ready for this camping trip that I've had my bag packed since Monday. It's been sitting by my bedside taunting me and making it hard to sleep. Last night I had such a hard time falling asleep because every time I shut my eyes I remembered something else I needed to pack. Luckily I have all my necessities loaded up and ready to go. The back of my SUV is packed with a cooler that has like 7 or 8 bottles of frozen water and my lunch for Friday, My three room tent, five camping chairs, my crappy comforter that I don't mind getting dirty and my pillow, and my lantern. I also have all my Cd's and my tool kit, which remain constantly in my car. I'm thinking I'm going to request that I drive because my vehicle has SO much room. Plus when we run out of room inside we can always strap things to the rack.
Wanna know what's in my bag? Sure you do! I've got like four pairs of underwear, an extra bra, my swim suit, tennis shoes, water sandals, my comb and mirror, various forms of sunblock and bug repellent, my first aid kit, three pairs of shorts, like 8 tops, three pairs of socks and two head covers plus my baseball cap, AND my waterproof disposable camera. We're going to be gone two nights. When I said I don't take fifty outfits I wasn't lying but I do believe in having enough clothes to change into if I get wet or muddy or if someone else needs to borrow a shirt because theirs caught fire... you NEVER know what could happen! What if a bear comes along and steals clothes laid out to dry? well then I have some backups. To quote my friend Stephanie, "I'm so STOKED".
Steph mentioned in her blog that she's not very prepared and she's no boyscout. She also said something about worrying about someone getting hurt. I think it's great that there are people that aren't prepared though, I mean that makes it all the more worth while that I'm OVERLY prepared. :-) No lie though, someone better keep an eye on me at all times because I'm literally a walking disaster! I've caught myself on fire, jammed a q-tip through my ear, fallen down the side of a mountain, and preformed various other acts of accidental injury. Maybe my next blog will detail all my intricate injuries...
