Muscle Relaxers, Vicodin, and Celebrex

Ever since my birthday, Tuesday Feb. 26th... I have had no back. I was squatting down feeding the dogs and when I went to stand my back went buh-bye. So here I am 25 years old and falling all to pieces, lovely. I went to work that day and things didn't go so well. I made it through to lunch before I just couldn't take it anymore and went home. Dodi had talked me into stopping by SOME Dr. so I went by the Urgent Care on my way home. He gave me a prescription for an anti-inflammatory (Neproxin), a muscle relaxer (Skelaxin), and a pain Killer (Hydrocodone/Vicodine)... he didn't ask me if I had any pre-existing conditions or anything just if I'm allergic to any drugs, this will be relevant later.

I dropped off the prescriptions and went home. Dad later took me back to pick up and pay for the prescriptions which I promptly consumed one of the first two and saved the Vicodine for later. I celebrated my birthday with my family and then took that Vicodine and passed out but good! The next day I didn't feel much like moving so I grabbed my cell phone and called in to work that I wouldn't be there but that most likely I'd be there Thursday. I spent practically the entire day laid up in the bed. By that night I was feeling quite a bit better and thinking, yeah I'm going back to work. Oh Cont rare!

Thursday about 3am I was awoken by these AWFUL stomach pains. It felt like my insides were on fire! So I just laid there curled up in a ball hoping that it would subside... I eventually fell back asleep. I awoke at 6:30 as usual only to decide there was, yet again, no way I was going to work. I called in again and explained that I felt like I was going to puke up my insides. I scheduled an appointment with my Dr. for 2ish and continued to feel like crap. I think I figured it out pretty quickly. I'd felt like this before, it was when my Dr. in college told me that I might be forming an Ulcer on my esophagus. It felt a lot like that but not nearly as bad. So I went through trying to throw up and cold sweats and then freezing to sweating. Finally I fell asleep and slept until my dad got home. I got ready and he drove me to the dr. where she informed me what I'd figured out on my own was true. It turns out that Neproxin or most anti-inflammatory drugs can cause ulcers or your stomach to bleed, interested considering the Urgent Care Dr. should have asked me if I had stomach issues before he prescribed it. So she told me to stop taking everything and put me on Nexium...that purple pill for people with acid reflux. So that I did.

I felt alright, not great, and was still limping around like a little 90 year old lady but I went to work Friday and did my birthday party Saturday and by Sunday morning I couldn't get out of my bed. RATS! So I layed in bed all day long wishing my back would get better. My wishes went unheard. Monday I went back to work still in pain and still hobbling around. Tuesday things only got worse and Wednesday I didn't think I could make it through another day. So I called my Dr.s office to talk to her but she was out. I spoke to her nurse who informed me it was Nichol's day off and that she would try to email her and call me when she heard back, if she didn't hear back she would speak to another dr. and let me know what they said to do. I waited. I waited and waited. I waited and waited and waited some more... about 10:30 the deputy director, Elaine, saw me barely hobbling down the hall to go to the bathroom and told me to just go home. So I did. When I got home my dad called the Carolina Back Institute and made me an appointment. We drove out there and they tested my walking and legs to figure out where the majority of the pain was coming from. They sent me in to get X-rays, which turned out to be fine and then they told me it was just a pulled muscle...nothing new I already knew that. SO they prescribed physical therapy, Celebrex as an anti-inflammatory, a "stronger" muscle relaxer, and a shot in the bum. They gave me a shot of anti-inflammatory drugs in my backside (more like my hip area than my actually butt) and I went home.

Once at home I took a muscle relaxer and layed down. By 5pm I felt SUPER! I felt so great that I went and looked at two houses with Stephanie and even went to Rock Band over at Todd's. The next morning it was definitely wearing off and I went to work and took a pillow to put in the chair to make it closer to my back. I made it through the rest of the week, but just barely. Friday I layed down for a bit and then went shopping some with Sara and then Saturday Stephanie, Sara, and I went around looking at houses. By the time I got home and layed down my back was killing me. I cleaned up my room to appease my mother and then went to bed early. Sunday morning it hurt to move so there I was spending another Sunday layed up in bed all day. It was Suck-tastic!

I got up again today and my back actually feels worse than it has since my shot. I just want this awful nightmare to end!!! Tomorrow will be two whole weeks that I've had this problem and it just wont go away!! And now that you know all about it... I'm going to go cry and try to finish out another rotten day at work before going to look at one more house. Have a fabulous day!
