It's a Small World Afterall
So today I left work early to go to my first session of Physical Therapy. I got there alright, filled out the paperwork and then sat down and the receptionist told me "Pete will be right with you". So I sat there waiting and you know how you do when you're in a new office, I was looking around at the artwork and stuff hanging on the walls and saw the certificate verifying this guy was qualified to be a physical therapist and I read the name... and then thought, No Way! Shortly around the corner comes Pete, Holy cow.
This is funny because Pete went to Western with me. My very close friend Levi grew up with Pete and they were roommates for a while. Pete didn't really like me because I was always in there room late at night working on a paper for history with Levi or just chilling and watching Conan O'Brien late late at night. Pete always complained that I was too loud while he was trying to sleep. We never developed a close friendship but he knew me and I knew him.
So when he walked around the corner I just started laughing. Pete from Western, wow. He's married and lives in Apex with his wife and she works in Chapel Hill while he is the Physical Therapist in his own office in Raleigh. It's so neat to see where people end up after college... well not on my part. It's hard for me to tell people I dropped out of college and am currently living with my parents at the age of 25. It's sad really. But at the same time at least I have a full time job and am not completely mooching off of them, so it could be worse. Anyhow so Pete asked me to tell him what had been going on, I filled him in on all my office visits and what they did and said. Then I told him about my recent conversation with the nurse at Carolina Back Institute. He made me stand up so he could push on my spine and get me to tell him where the pain was... basically Pete poked and prodded and mashed my hips, back and butt... it was pretty awkward at first but then it just became routine. It's funny how that happens sometimes. You get a dr you know and suddenly it's like well hell they do this with a TON of other patients all you are is another set of messed up bones for them to fix. SO that's all it became for me. He hooked me up to a machine that sent electric vibrations pulsing on my muscles and it was supposed to relax them some so I could do the exercises but I can't tell that it really made that much difference. He showed me four stretches to do and I did them each ten times and then we discussed me coming back. The whole time I'm doing the stretches we talked about Levi, and school, how he ended up where he is, it was interesting to catch up. Anyhow so he gave me a print out with the four stretches on it and told me he'd like for me to do 10 sets of each 2-3 times a day. And he wanted me to come back 2-3 times a week but I really can't afford $40 a visit that many times so we set it up for once a week and I'm to do all these exercises at home.
Tomorrow I have to go back to the Back Institute because the medical company is meeting me there with my Tinge Unit and they're going to show me how to use it and what all I need to do for it to be effective. SO I have to leave work early AGAIN tomorrow, not that I mind at all because it's not a bad deal. My appointment is at 3pm so I'll drive over there, wait for them to show up and show me how to use it, come home, and give it a shot myself then rest all weekend. So just so everyone knows, don't expect to see me this weekend... I might actually get up and go to church for an hour on Sunday but I def. wont be there the entire three hours. As for Friday and Saturday if the last two weekends in a row have shown me anything I'm going to be sprawled out around the house and not leaving to go anywhere. Feel free to come and visit!
