Blitzed

Today my day was spent in a drug induced haze. When I went to Urgent Care yesterday they had me in and out in 30mins with three prescriptions... A muscle relaxer, an anti-inflammatory, and some good 'ol Hydrocodone (better known as Vicodine). So I took my muscle relaxer and anti-inflammatory drugs and waited. Nothing I tell you! The pain in my back was still throbbing all night. I didn't take the Vicodine until I was ready to go to bed because I wanted to spend my birthday with my family and actually be alive during the celebration. We had spaghetti for dinner and a really good cake, with whipped icing instead of the butter cream stuff that I find too sweet for me, and my favorite Archer Farms Chocolate Peanut butter ice cream. So once I'd finished I took my Vicodine and went up to my room to watch TV. I really didn't feel any kind of difference.

My friend Jericho called and we chatted for a while and I could feel my tongue getting heavier and my eyelids starting to close but that was it. Everyone I talk to praises Vicodine as some wonderful drug that takes away all the pain. I got off the phone about an hour later and all it did for me was make me sleepy. Although, I did sleep like a stone version of myself. A couple of times I tried to roll over in the night and felt like a really heavy statue and could hardly move. So I guess in essence it had some effect on my body but the pain in my back was still VERY VERY much there.

My alarm went off at 6 and woke me up... I never hear my alarm until 6:15 or 6:20 so that was odd for me. I woke up and went to the bathroom, it was a serious struggle to stand up. Then I went right back to bed. I called my supervisor's number and left her a slightly slurred message that I was going to take today and rest in the hopes that my back would feel better and that I would probably, most likely, be there tomorrow. Then I fell back into a bit of a comma for an hour or two and my dad woke me up and asked about the dogs. Oh man, I had to go give Bella her pill. Around 8 he went out and helped me clean out the pens and put food in their bowls and then he put them in their pens for me and I gave Bella her meds then went and took some of my own. I just took my first two again with some food, Vicodine suggests you don't eat first or it wont be as effective so perhaps that's what I did wrong last night, and then I waited about an hour. I took my Vicodine and went back to bed and maybe an hour later I passed out stone cold... AGAIN. I slept for a few hours then woke up and ate something, then slept for another few hours then woke up and walked out to check the mail. I feel that if I don't at least move around every little while my back will freeze up but good.

So now, here I am at 6:30 waiting on mom and dad to pick up Chinese for dinner and then I'll take my three pills again and go back to bed. Whether my back really feels better or not I can't afford to miss much more work so I'll be back up and moving about tomorrow morning. I just have to remember my icepack and my heating pad to take to work with me. It should prove to be an interesting day. I really hope this is all gone by Saturday!
