I'm Movin On...
Friday I got the call I've been waiting for! My awesome interview skills finally paid off and I was offered a job with the NC Department of Agriculture in their Agronomic Division. I will be THE Receptionist there starting Monday, October 11, 2010. I could not be happier to be leaving NCDOT in the dust! Yep, I'm only giving them a weeks notice and then I'm moving on to bigger and more professional things. *SIGH* I swear Friday was the best day I've had since August 28, 2009 (for those of you who don't know that's the date of my epic first date with Nathan). Anyway, it's a lateral transfer...for those of you who speak non-State Employee lingo that means I will be moving from the low low pay grade of 57 to the low low pay grade of... 57, I'm not making any more money but my butt is moving from a seat in my own personal hell to a seat in a very posh, upscale, fabulously professional office off of Blue Ridge Road with people that actually LIKE their job and co-workers and work environment...who knew that was even possible when working with the State? Not I said the Little Red Hen!
The best part of all this? I get to stick it to my current department! My supervisor is leaving the 8th as well, they just called me in last week and told me they hired someone that they felt was more qualified for the job I'd been covering for them for the last two and a half years without complaint or compensation of any sort... so not only does this new, more qualified woman have to learn her new position in a week but she also has to learn my supervisor's job AND my job. :-D MAN! THIS JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER! Okay so don't mistake this for malice for this lady, it's nothing against her, I mean hell it's not her fault that the boss thinks she's better qualified for a job I was already doing... but I'm loving that he's about to have the two people that run this place jump ship at one time and he's got one brand new employee to cover it all. Good luck Purchasing, I hope the department stays afloat. People are jumping ship left and right too, we've had two retirements in the last 3 months, one person just quit, and now Cheri and I are leaving...it'll be interesting to see what happens over here after about 6 months.
Alright so enough of the meanness...I'm so stoked for my new job and I will be sure to keep you all posted on how things are going! I may or may not have access to non-state websites over there so I may be updating a lot less frequently once I'm in my new job. SAD DAY! But hopefully I'll have my own computer sooner rather than later and I'll be able to update this stuff from home anyway. Have a FABULOUS day everybody!!!
