Headset

While I truly believe that the blue tooth headset (or even the corded kind) have their place in the car and the office, I don't understand why they seem to have become the newest fashion accessory.

You see women shopping at the mall, men at the grocery store, some kid bebopping around the park, all wearing these blue tooth headsets. But why? As if it's not annoying enough that people talk loudly on their cell phones in public but now we have the added pleasure of seeing people that appear to be talking to themselves in public...again, loudly. Would it help if I told you, you look like an idiot! No? Sad but true. If you walk around talking to yourself all day long someone is bound to have you committed but add this nifty little piece of equipment and suddenly it's okay.

With the new laws about not driving and talking on a cell phone without a hands free device looming on the horizon, the hands free headsets are going to become more popular. I really have no problem with that, I'm all for hands-free talking on your cell in the car, especially if it means your stupid self isn't going to drive into my car because you have your hands all over your cell and no where near the steering wheel, but when you get out of the car...please, I beg you, leave your stupid headset in the car!
I have co-workers that use the hands-free method of talking on the phone so they can use their keyboard more efficiently while chatting with vendors (or more likely family members but who's keeping tabs). The thing is though, when they get up from their desk they're still wearing it. You look stupid guys. Take the dern thing off your ear if you're going to go talk to someone. It's so embarrassing to have a vendor come in and ask to speak with someone and their assistant shows up wearing a headset to greet them, seriously, you look unprofessional. What's worse is when they wear their blue tooth AND their work headset. How do you even hear anything going on around you if you've got both your ears clogged up with hands-free cell phone equipment? It's not a fashion accessory, really it's not, heck it looks like a cockroach sticking out of your ear.
