Goal Oriented I am Not
I usually don't set goals because I've learned that if I do that it's really only setting me up for failure. I used to set goals all the time, get good grades, grow out my hair, stop being so argumentative, etc etc. Then when I realized how bad I suck at trying to actually achieve these goals I gave up on even setting them.
Today this is going to change. I've decided I am going to keep a goal calender. I have a business planner that I got at work and I'm going to keep track of how well I'm doing on my goals by writing down whether or not I achieved any part of my goal that day. I'm just so tired of wasting my life on wishes and dreams and not actively DOING.
Here are my goals:
~Lose Inches- I'm not going to pay attention to my weight for right now, just whether or not the big bulge around my middle is getting smaller. (plus I don't own a scale)
~Get Physically Fit- I want to be fit enough to walk from the second floor, where I work, down to the basement and back up again without getting winded. Also in this category...I'd like to be on my surf board again by at least the middle of the summer.
~Don't Be Lazy!- I want to be doing something every day. Work and working out during the week keep me pretty busy but on the weekends I tend to get lazy and lounge more than I'd like so my goal there is to actively get out all day Saturday and DO exciting things.
~Read More, Watch TV Less- This one wont be too hard because since I've moved I've been watching a lot less TV than I used to (at work doesn't really count...I mean at home) but I still haven't been reading as much as I'd like.
~Stop Moping Over The Stupid Ex- Yeah, I'm still moping. I was good with the last "relationship" or whatever it was because we weren't really together and it was more of an emotional (long distance) connection for me. This one was emotional, physical, and well we were actually dating. Regardless...I'm going to STOP moping over it.
~Save More Money!- I'm terrible about spending money I don't have to spend. I've gotten better about it since I've moved out on my own and actually have rent and utilities to pay but I still slip up and spend money on stuff I really don't need. I think I'm going to actually start balancing my check book again.
~Get A New Job- This one is going to be a lot harder than the rest because, well, there aren't a lot of those to be had right now and there are a TON of people looking. I had an interview yesterday and there were 200 applicants for an assistant position...that's about three times the normal amount. Still, I want a new job so my aim is to get it.
~Stop Procrastinating- I have a lot of things I need to get done or planned and I put it all off until the last minute and then I panic. Some people do work better under pressure and I fear I may be one of those people but I'd much rather make a plan for these things far in advance so that I don't have to panic and be grumpy.
So these are my goals. Some of them are going to be easier than the others but I think if I really try hard I can achieve all of them. I'm not setting much of a time frame on them...maybe I'll say I'd like to have some of them achieved by this summer, some by the end of the year and some I'll say I'd like to have started the transformation by the end of the year and continue it through the next year.

I have a great way for you to accomplish goals, i'm doing this w/my husband and it works great first you pick 3 goals you want to accomplish everyday. for exmaple mine are stay under 1500 calories, read scriptures & workout, then you try to do at least 2 of those goals everyday day. every day you accopmlish 2 of them you have a good day. 3rd you do it as a challenge w/a friend. so you each of you keep track of how many good days you have for set period of time and at the end there is a winner. my husband and i did it for 5 weeks and he lost by one day so he had to clean the entire house and the backyard. it was great i lost 6 lbs and we started all over again. i hope that makes sense but 2 of my other friends tried and it worked for them too
