City Lights

Driving home last night at 2am I couldn't help but notice how bright the sky was for such a late hour. I got to thinking, was the sky this bright this late in the mountains? I don't remember it being this way so the only logical conclusion as to why this is occurring in Raleigh has to be the city lights brighten the sky all night long.
I definitely want to live somewhere that when it's night the only thing lighting the sky is the stars above. I think it's sad that it looks like daylight on the horizon at 2am around here. I wonder how far out of the city you have to go before you escape the glare.
