Left is the New Right

The rules of the road that all were to abide by used to be the left lane is fast and everyone else better move on over to the right. Apparently this rule has changed. I've noticed fairly recently that slower traffic seems to have a tendency to keep left now. Why is this? The right lane is the designated slow lane, the middle lane you use for passing and the left lane is for all the people that are in a huge ass hurry and actually enjoy going at the very least five over. Now I realize not all roads have more than two lanes and in this case if your ass is going slow stay to your right and if you are going fast keep to the left.

Today I was running late for work, which adds a whole new element to the problem because it's inevitable that when you're late people have a sensor that goes off telling them to slow down (it must be because this ALWAYS happens) and get in your way. Anyway, I was running late and headed down Capital Blvd as I now do. From 401 to where the road actually becomes Capital it's three lanes and then it upgrades to about four or five as you reach the main section of Capital. For arguement's sake let's just pick 4. You have FOUR lanes to work with here and thus the fast traffic shouldn't have any problem staying fast. WRONG! The slow ass people now have TWO lanes they can fiddle fart around in and the third lane can be used for passing and people going at least the speed limit but that fourth and far left lane should be reserved for people that really wanna go fast. It's not like I speed, let's get that clear, when I think of speed I think 15+ over, I'm perfectly happy going 50 in a 45. But when I am forced to go 40 and 35 when it's 45 I start getting very extremely annoyed. Not to mention if all the lanes are moving slow and a person that actually wants to go fast is behind me and bumper hugging me, I like to use that middle lane to move over out of their way, but now that you slow ass people are utilizing every lane I'm screwed and may very well die one day by the angry hand of some redneck in a very large very fast truck. Seriously.

I wish working for DOT actually afforded me a way to fix the road situation. Why don't we have bicycle lanes? Why isn't there some kind of written rule that if you're slow you have to stay out of the left side unless you're turning left within the next few feet? People, if you aren't going at least 5 and probably more likely 10 over....STAY OUT OF THE WAY!!!
