Belated New Year Description
The Activities Committee helped me to put my lovely vision of a New Years Masquerade into play and it turned out fabulously. We decorated the gym with a canopy across the ceiling and hung a lovely mural on the wall behind the DJ stand and had an arch. I think what made it the most amazing New Years Dance I've been to in a long time is the people. There were so many amazingly awesome people there and so many amazing people on the committee that helped pull everything together. I must give special props to Emily, Todd, Rae, Jenna, Mary C, and Travis... for giving up most of their day Wednesday to help me put together some seriously amazing decorations. It looked pretty amazing before everyone got there... mostly because Rae and Travis had to re-adjust the canopy after it fell twice. It took a great deal of time and fishing line to fix it like this....
We used isle runners from Party city for the canopy pieces and had to tape some pieces together and towards the end of the night some of them gave up and just let go.
But that's okay because the whole thing didn't come crashing down on the crowd below...and my what a crowd! It was amazing the number of people we got in that gym. I really thought we'd have a much smaller turnout ... imagine my happiness when it looked like this.
The hors d'vors table looked so fantastic! We had a lot of little foods and I think a lot of leftovers went home with a few people :-) they were tasty. My absolute favorite part though?
Slow dancing with the most amazing guy ever and being there with my fabulous friends. I didn't get a New Years kiss (I was so not kissing Rae before we even had our first date..not even for the sake of getting a New Years kiss) but I did get a lot of slow dance time with Rae and I had fun watching everyone there have a good time. So thank you to everyone that helped and everyone that came..you made New Years Eve amazing. I've also been told by numerous people that we need to do this again next year ... we may do another formal dance but it has to have a different theme or it would get old way fast. :-) I'm also way happy with the way that my dress turned out... and yes I made that dress all by myself! (okay I had a teeny weeny bit of help from my mom).
