Sick Nightmares

So, since I've been sick I seem to be having the same nightmare over and over. It's all mixed up in different order and contains different things each time, but the underlying theme is the same. I'm being chased by ghosts. That sounds so freaking dumb right? Gosh Ariel, wake up already, ghosts are not the stuff of nightmares. Apparently in my little head they are. They are freaking terrifying, especially when they carry knives...makes no sense I know.
Okay let me just tell you what things I can remember:
There's ghosts everywhere, there's a pumpkin, a knife stabbed into the pumpkin, a ghost carrying a knife and then there's me trying to scream at the ghosts but nothing is coming out. I know what I'm trying to say, I'm trying to tell them to go away and stay out...but the words aren't coming out of my mouth at all. And I do believe there is a bit of running involved.
Anyway, I hate trying to look up dream meanings online. You get a bunch or crap and then the things that aren't crap are all separate and make no sense put together. I think there needs to be some way to interpret an entire dream as a whole not just bits and pieces. If that were the case this is what my dream means according to Dream Moods:
Pumpkin: To see a pumpkin in your dream, implies openness and your receptiveness to new ideas and experiences. A pumpkin is also symbolic of the female sexuality. Alternatively, it may relate to the popular fairy tale of Cinderella where a carriage turns back into a pumpkin. In this regard, it may represent some situation in which time is running out.
Scream: To dream that you are screaming, symbolizes anger and fear. It is an expression of your powerful emotions which you have kept pent up inside.
If you try to scream, but no sound comes out, then is suggests that you need to immediately confront some situation. Perhaps you are unable to pinpoint your fears or feelings.

Ghost: In general, ghosts symbolizes aspects of yourself that you fear. This may involve a painful memory, guilt, or some repressed thoughts. You may be afraid of death and dying. Alternatively, ghosts are representative of something that is no longer obtainable or within reach. It indicates a feeling of disconnection from life and society. This dream may be a calling for you to move on and abandon your outdated modes of thinking and behavior.
Knife: To dream that you are carrying a knife, signifies anger, aggression and/or separation. There may be something in your life that you need to cut out and get rid of. Alternatively, the knife may be symbolic of something divisive in your life. You may be attempting to cut ties or sever some relationship.
Running: To dream that you are running away from someone, indicates an issue that you are trying to avoid. You are not taking or accepting responsibility for your actions. In particular, if you are running from an attacker or any danger, then it suggests that you are not facing and confronting your fears.
So, if these are the true translations of my nightmare, then it's a very confusing nightmare...to me anyway. Regardless, it freaks me out and I'm ridiculously tired from a severe lack of sleep because not only do I wake up but I am so scared when I wake up that I have to try to sleep the rest of the night with my lamp on. Silly. What good is a lamp gonna do when you're asleep?

I am so sorry!! And hearing that someone else understands what you mean is never what you want to hear because they OBVIOUSLY didn't have the same dream.
However I've had many a dreams, many a nites that would wake me up and or make me so tired the next day that it would've been better not to sleep at all.
I'm sorry and I hope your nightmare goes away.
