When I'm craving something there's no telling what I might do (God help me if I ever get pregnant!).
Tonight I was extremely hungry. I found a box of frozen fried shrimp that I had in the freezer (what a convenient place for something frozen!). So I dumped the shrimp on a pan and preheated the oven all the while trying to think of something to dip the shrimp in. I really really wanted some cocktail sauce but alas we had none. So I decided to look up the recipe for making cocktail sauce... dang it we didn't have any horseradish.
I decided to dig through the fridge and in the process I spotted Dijon Mustard. hmm. I dipped a shrimp in the mustard and while it was pretty tasty it just didn't cut it. And then the light bulb went off! I'll make my own "cocktail sauce"! Not using the usual ingredients of course.
My Ingredients?

I put in a little spoonful of mustard (start out small and if it tastes okay go big!) added a dash of hot sauce and stir in about three times as much ketchup. The concoction looked like this...

Since it looked okay I thought I'd try tasting it....

And it was actually pretty darn good! YAY me! It tastes about the same as cocktail sauce, maybe a little less potent than if I'd had some horseradish but I must say, in a pinch Dijon works wonders.
