Pathway To Perfection

It's finally over.

I planned and executed a pretty fantastic YSA conference with the help of some truly amazing people. I know some people were a bit wary of the "get to know you" games on Friday night but I'm proud to be able to say they were unique enough to get people to come back the next day, ready for more.

Saturday morning was a bit of a let down for me because I wanted more than anything for the conference to take place out in the park. It would have really pulled things together nicely. But I must say that of the two classes I attended and from what I heard of the others, the workshop teachers did a fine job of driving their point home even in a standard class room setting. The keynote speaker was amazing. I didn't get to hear his entire talk and am truly sad about that but from what I heard he was captivating. The service project was so last minute because everything we tried to set up to begin with didn't work out and we ended up doing school kits, which only took about 30 minutes out of the entire hour and a half we had designated. Luckily the weather had cleared up by this time and people were able to go out to the park and have a good time. My understanding is somewhere close to over half of the people vanished during this time, I have no clue what they did but I hope that whatever it was it didn't take away from the awesome spirit the conference provided.

The dinner at the park was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I had a lot to take care of so I was only able to stop by for a few minutes and scarf some food down before heading back to the building to finish decorating and setting up for the dance. I think the dance was by far one of the better dances we've had. The live band was truly amazing! And I hope that Michael is able to set up lots of other live music in the future, for dances. The only problem was people didn't seem to understand that the music they were playing was meant for dancing...not just standing around and listening. Ah well, you can't win 'em all. Sadly with all the running around and keeping busy I did, I wasn't able to make it through to the end. I left the dance right before it was over and left the clean up to my capable and wonderful committee. I've only been to one other YSA conference but I did go to plenty of Youth Conferences when I was younger and, not to toot my own horn, but this is definitely one of the best conferences I've ever attended. I'm really proud of everyone that came and hope that they all gleaned something from the lessons they were taught and I hope that everyone had a chance to make some wonderful and lasting friendships.

I know at least one relationship came out of this weekend. I think that's really awesome. I know these conferences are there for the spiritual uplift but let's face it, they're also there so we can meet others with the possibility of meeting someone we might one day date. I'm really happy for the two people that got together, they're awesome people with fabulous personalities! I'm also really glad for the few friends I was able to pick up along the way and through all the running around behind the scenes that I had to do. I was a little put off by the fact that I didn't get to really experience the conference in its entirety but hey someone had to do all the dirty work! LOL. The weekend was fabulous and I hope everyone will plan to attend next years as well!

I didn't take any pictures but I had Spencer running around with a camera all weekend so hopefully soon he'll have some up that I can add to this account. :-) Oh! And we have about 80 some odd shirts left over... they're good if anyone wants one (I'll post a picture) they don't have anything to date them they just say: "Pathway to Perfection" on the front with two bare feet and on the back it has the quote by Daniel S Twohig "Today I walked where Jesus Walked" over a picture of a father and son walking along a beach...it's a really great burnt orange color too, so yeah if anyone wants one just to have let me know LOL.
