Shoe-aholic

I LOVE SHOES! I've made my obsession, no Addiction, to shoes no secret. Shoes are like cocaine for me I've always gotta have my fix. My most recent fix came in a very large shoe box from Sierra Trading post.

I've been dying to get my feet into a really great pair of hiking boots. I love hiking and I hate hiking in tennis shoes because it always ruins them and they have no ankle support. So, I finally found a really good pair of boots at a really good price. They're Columbia hiking boots and I only paid about $36 (including shipping) for them. Columbia makes some of the best hiking boots and outdoor gear, just a little FYI for those of you that don't do the outdoors thing. I was extremely thrilled to find them at such a good price. I'm actually wearing them today so that I can break my feet in before the end of the month.

On a side note, I said break my feet in because most people say they're breaking in their shoes when in reality the shoes are breaking them in. You get blisters and callouses and all kinds of pain from new shoes until you've worn them so long that your feet learn to love them. That's MY theory anyhow.

Back to my new shoes though and the reason for buying them. I usually don't buy new shoes with a purpose, I just kinda see a pair that I love and get them. These had a purpose. I'm planning a trip to the mountains for the end of this month and I am going hiking. I fully intend to take TONS of waterfall pictures and hike until my entire body falls apart. I miss getting to go out into the woods and hike up a mountain or to the top of a waterfall. So I really needed some good hiking shoes. What are good hiking shoes?
They must have the following qualities:
1. Good Tread
2. A Sturdy upper body
3. Waterproof
4. Ankle support (these people that hike in "hiking shoes" or tennis shoes or are crazy! you need ankle support so you don't break one, and don't even get me started on the ones that go barefoot!)

The only thing I don't like about these boots... they make my feet look like clown feet! But that's okay I'll forgive them that so long as they keep my feet safe on the trails. :-D
