Lazy Dayz and Crazy Nights

I had such a fun weekend. I think by far Friday night was the BEST night! I called up a BUNCH of people and invited them to join us to watch Across the Universe at the NC Art Museum on Blue Ridge Road. Maybe you don't know this, so I'm going to inform you of something fabulous, every summer the Art Museum has movies on the lawn and it is one of the most amazing things you can do in this city. The cost is $3 for a ticket and you can bring lawn chairs or sit on a blanket and they show the movie on a big screen. Sadly, I've only done this three times in the entire 20 or so years that I've lived in Raleigh. There are two more movies that I think I'm going to go watch out there, Into the Wild (sooo good!) and Lars and the Real Girl (I've not seen this yet). Anyway, we all showed up and sat on blankets and lawn chairs and watched what is becoming one of my favorite movies, I'm not sure why because it's so freakishly trippy, and had a good time.

Saturday my friend Jordan and I joined my sister and another friend, Moira, for Cary's annual Lazy Dayz festival. It's basically a bunch of tents/booths set up with crafts for sale. We walked the entire route and checked out most of the wares. Jordan and I got ankle bracelets from one booth and they're pretty darn cute. The thing about these crafty people is that they tend to get a bit repetative after a while, you can only see the same piece of pottery so many times before you get tired of it. I was, however, really impressed with two artists. The first is Big World Photo, they make pictures out of little figurine people in the BIG world. They were amazing photos and I am glad they have a website because I'm so totally going to save some money and buy one of their prints when I have my own place. The second place was Charisma Art Gallery and her paintings were just too fabulous! They're called "Sheep Incognito" and are paintings of cartoon sheep in funny situations with hilarious titles. The paintings are rather expensive but I'd love to have one in my home... my favorite is:
Happy Endings! Isn't that so cute? It's actually a limited edition print and not actually one of the canvas originals but I'd still love to have it. There are quite a few really hilarious ones on her website and I'd love to own most of them. So out of all the stuff we saw, and it was A LOT, these were my two favorites. I've included links to their sites so you should totally check them out!

Saturday night was a bit crazy. Everyone I invited to go to the FREE concert downtown ditched except Jordan and Stacy. So, it was just the three of us. We parked about 8 blocks away and walked to Moore Square and when we got there Eve 6 was winding down their last number, I was thrilled to get to at least HEAR them (even if they're not that great live). So we get in line to enter the square, which was PACKED solid, and I hear these voices hollering something about wearing tight fitting clothes meaning that you were an abomination and that you were leading people astray to hell and I turned around laughing and saw this guy wearing a sign that said something about Are you ready for the end of the world (I'm not getting the last part right but you get the gist) and right as I turned around laughing the dude looked in my direction and said "You can laugh now but you wont be laughing when you're burning in hell". That just made me laugh even harder. These people are so extreme! You're at a concert where people are coming to have a good time and listen to the show, and some of them may be there to get drunk, but you're going to stand out there and tell these people they're going to hell?!? SERIOUSLY? Get a life. Go home to your little bachelor pad because we KNOW you're not married, and eat your sad little frozen dinner and just leave the rest of the world alone. I mean sheesh! I just wanted to hear some free music and I get told I'm going to fry in hell. LOVELY. Moving on though, we worked our way to the crowd until we were about 1/3 of the way to the stage and I still couldn't see anything but I gave up, just so long as I could hear the music I didn't care anymore about seeing them. So after waiting about 30 minutes Puddle of Mudd made their appearance and it was amazing! They're just as great live as they are on CD. I'm pretty used to being in large crowds of drunks pressing in on you but I don't think Stacy was so we only hung around for about 5 songs. It was cool though, not the weather mind you that was HOT and sweaty, but the music was really great.
Overall my weekend was fantastically exhausting and I had a beautiful time!

And now I'm couting my days till my next weekend :-D 4 (today doesn't count because it's already today).
