Traffic Violations Part 1
I have a feeling this is going to be a recurring post so I'm labeling it part one of God only know's how many.
I had dinner with an old friend Friday night and as we stood waiting for a seat at The Cheesecake Factory, I watched three cars turn right where there was clearly a sign stating No Right Turns. This wasn't one right after the other, mind you, but there was about 5 minutes between them. I just laughed because people just don't seem to pay attention to the signs in front of their faces. The sad thing is because of this lack of attention to detail people can die. For instance I've seen about half a dozen cars going the wrong way on a one way street in downtown, in the last month alone. If you don't take the time to watch where you are going and note that the sign says one way and you aren't going that way, you could seriously harm youself or others as well as kill someone in a car accident. This is rediculous.
Another thing that really bugs me is kind of a two parter. The first is when someone STOPS at a yield sign when no one is coming. The sign says YIELD for a reason, that way if no one is coming you can just keep right on going... imagine that! And so it drives me absolutely nuts to be stuck behind someone who just stops and sits there waiting on a car to get right up to them before they decide it's okay to pull out. Nutso people. The second part is sort of similar to the first but also different, in that there is no sign in this situation. I really hate when you're pulling in somewhere that has a sign that says incoming traffic keep moving, and people just STOP! AAAAAH. Where I went to college all incoming traffic had the right of way and everyone else had to stop. Inevitably every time I would come onto campus I'd be behind some genious that didn't realize there was no stop sign anywhere to be seen. *sigh*
So I guess these problems could be solved if everyone would just OPEN THEIR EYES while driving and pay attention to the signs and lack thereof. Don't stop where there is no sign and don't turn when there is one that clearly states you can't turn there. Happy Driving! I'm gonna go get in my car and try to avoid the stupid people on the drive home.
