A Bout of Nostalgia
My fourth of July was spent hangin around the house with my roomie. I forget how this conversation came up but we started talking about guys we used to have crushes on and I ran upstairs and dug out my old yearbooks and started perusing them.
It's amazing how quickly four years went by, I know at the time I was in such a hurry to get out of High School that it seemed like it went on forever but as I glance back now it seems like four days instead of four years. All the memories seem to blur together into one big memory so sometimes it's hard to tell what happened when. Looking back at pictures of guys I used to have a crush on was hilarious! Oh it kills me lol. Even better is the ones that I dated. Going back and reading things people wrote was a trip. Some friends were obviously closer than others and would write an entire page, not just senior year but every single year. My favorite is from the boyfriend I had my senior year... he said "I hope you remember me in the future because I know I'll never forget you". Wow. Yeah that was sweet but somehow I think he's managed to fall from the face of this earth into some deep abysmal black hole somewhere because I can't find hide nor hair of him. His life took a very different path than mine and I would really love to see how things have turned out for him but I've scoured facebook and myspace using his given name and the name he went by and nothing. I also took the time to google search him hoping something would turn up but with no results at all. SO disappointing! How dare you let me down facebook!
Regardless of the friends and ex's I have lost complete touch with Facebook and Myspace have served as a connection to that past I once had. I've managed to keep in touch, to the most minimal degree, with people that I honestly thought I'd never see again in my life and yet all I have to do is turn on my computer and there they sit. I didn't intend for this blog to turn into a Facebook/Myspace promotion lol, but alas! It seems to have become such in just one paragraph.
I would seriously love to be able to find some of the more obscure people I went to high school with, and even a few that I dated, that seem to have fallen from the face of this digital globe upon which we dwell. I really think that it would just make my day to see their faces peering out of my computer screen at me.
