What Makes Music Better?

The best feeling when you're listening to an album is when you know the person singing. It's amazing! You get chills just hearing their voice and thinking to yourself, "hey, I know that person!"

I grew up going to church with a man named Russ James. I've always admired this man and his incredible spirituality but I now have a new admiration for him, his voice. Russ recorded an album in his home using his very own recording label, "Shakey Legz Music". He snagged possibly one of the most amazing young female singers, and a very good friend of mine, Emily Snyder. This girl has an incredible voice and why she hasn't persued a career in music is beyond me. Anyway these two together with Russ' wife Lynn created Carolina Backroads (pictured above). It's an amazing compliation of country style songs and ballads.

I had been told about this album a while back but had never heard anything from it (it was released in 2007) until recently. I was at the craft fair and my lovely friend Russ came by to support me and we got to talking about how he's now working on his next release and he mentioned the album. I told him I had yet to hear any songs from it and he came back with a copy for me. As soon as I got into my car I popped it into my CD player and haven't taken it out yet...and that was three days ago. I am in love with the acoustic sound and the fantastic voices of the fabulous people that I have grown to love over the years. I am anxiously awaiting Russ' next album and I'm pestering Emily constantly to get into singing and record an album through Russ' label.

Anyway, I know everyone has their own different tastes in music and country, especially the older style of it, is not very well recieved. But I ask you to please open your ears and listen to the sheer beauty of these songs and the amazing voices of the people singing them. Enjoy!
