Chocolate Cake Doughnut

YUCK! I am not a fan of cake doughnuts. My roomie and I were wanting a lil Dunkin Doughnuts (because let's face it there aren't nearly enough Krispy Kreme's around here!) so we dropped by the one on Capital on our way home from Volleyball. I asked for a chocolate glazed doughnut which I thought would be a glazed doughnut with chocolate icing. Man! I was so wrong. It's like when you bite into something and you're expecting one thing and what you get is something totally different! It SUCKS! Granted, I could see what I was biting into as I pulled it out of the bag and my little heart sank. But still... Booo! LAME!

I'm not a fan of the cake doughnut. Personally I think if you're going to make doughnuts they need to be the good ol fashioned kind. They are the BEST! You bite into them and all their gooey goodness and it's like eating a bite of really soft really sweet bread. When you bite into a cake doughnut it's like biting into a big fat piece of pound cake, not that I have any problems with pound cake but when I'm expecting a doughnut, I want the real deal.

So I got two chocolate glazed doughnuts which turned out to actually be chocolate cake doughnuts and I couldn't help but be severely disappointed. I ate one last night and had the other this morning for breakfast. The thing that's bugging me about this though is the texture. I was chomping along at this doughnut and the way it felt in my mouth was just wrong. Something wasn't right, it was too thick and grainy...doughnuts aren't supposed to have that texture. UGH, but still, I scarfed down my breakfast and rode the rest of the way to work with a funny feeling in my mouth. Well, next time I go to get doughnuts it's gonna have to be a trip down to Peace St. to the Krispy Kreme... that's where the Best Doughnuts in the world are!
